HE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi represented the State of Qatar in the meeting.

HE Prime Minister of the Republic of Sudan Dr. Abdalla Hamdok, HE Secretary-General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres, and HE Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Norway Ine Marie Eriksen Soreide attended the meeting.

In a speech during the meeting, HE Al Muraikhi valued the invitation of the State of Qatar to participate in the important meeting to provide the opportunity to listen to the latest developments on the ongoing progress and the obstacles facing progress in Sudan, which is of great interest in the State of Qatar.

HE the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs said that the State of Qatar, in partnership with the African Union and the UN, has made great efforts to help bring peace and stability to Sudan by hosting the Doha Peace Talks, which resulted in the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur, concurrently, the State of Qatar has undertaken reconstruction and sustainable development projects in addition to humanitarian aid.

The State of Qatar has fully supported the aspirations of the brotherly Sudanese people in transition, peace, justice, and building a state of institutions and law, he added.

HE Al Muraikhi congratulated the transitional government and the Sudanese people for their tangible achievements over the past two years, welcoming the commitment made by the Sudanese Prime Minister Dr. Abdullah Hamdok to complete the historic transition and reform for the benefit of the Sudanese people.

HE the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs indicated that this commitment needs a similar commitment from international partners - and the State of Qatar is one of them - to provide political, economic, and security support, without interference or special interests, pointing out that such commitment is required to strengthen Sudan's unity and national reconciliation because Sudan is still in a critical stage and faces economic and financial difficulties.

HE Al Muraikhi stressed that the State of Qatar will spare no effort to support the Sudanese people and the transitional government, reiterating Qatar's firm position in support of Sudan's unity, stability and sovereignty, and support of the choices of the Sudanese people.
